WD2000EB-00CSF0 repair record
WD HDD of 20G can be detected but can’t boot. If boot by CD-ROM and doesn’t find partition, I couldn’t use FDISK partition. When I enter DISKGEN and PQ, it reports an error and couldn’t partition. It couldn’t low level format by DM and LFORMAT. So I could only use F4 function of MHDD and all appear as cyan S. When use HDDREG1.3, it reads a long time in the first cell. Finally I have no patient and change to PC3K and enter the operation processes. Before that I need to jump the HDD jumper to safe model.
1. Firstly scan firmware, after finished it may show some errors
2. Internal low level format, it is the low level format which doesn’t consider G and P, at beginning it low level format slow, and then I lose patience and quit low level format
3. Select the forth menu, it is logical scan defect, doesn’t change any setting and press enter, it turn out to be more than 1000 errors after scan.
4. After finished I quit PC3K and use DM to low level format, it works, but I didn’t low level format and try PQ and DISKGEN, it is no problem to partition and then I try FDISK to partition, it is OK. But it shows bad tracks in FORMAT process. Then I use PC3K again.
5. Now it’s time to use low level format, which consider G and P. In the long time waiting, maybe 20 minutes, finally finished formatting.
6. Quit PC3K, use MHDD to scan, it’s OK. There has no cyan S. I think the HDD is recovered.
7. Follow is use FDISK partition and FORMAT. No problem, no bad tracks. ( For small capacity HDDs like 20G, I’d like to use FDISK to partition, because FDISK has the function of checkout and know there is no big problems in partition processes.)

The whole process of WD HDDs repair
Breakdown: WD2000EB Capacity 20G, can not partition, can not format. It failed to low level format by LFORMAT, DM9.56 or WD special program. Especially report error such as MBR when use DM9.56, it can’t test head and cylinder when use MHDD2.9, it can’t test HDD partition when use DISKEDIT, it turns red cue but can test HDD when use WD module of PC3K.
Solution:
1. Interface a good HDD with IDE1 interface and then put PC3KV12 software into it. IDE2 interface interfaced with breakdown HDD. Notice: two HDDs should be set up to master device.
2. At present it can’t continue after run corresponded module PCWD_EB.EXE of the software and when it turns red cue, unplug the power cord of bad HDD, then unplug data wire and plug bad HDD. Firstly plug data wire and then plug power line. After that you could continue.
3. Select the third one of interface (inner low level format program) and wait for 30 minutes. It’s OK.
 

Repair WD 40G
Breakdown: Full disk bad sectors, run slow, can not format, can not partition, can identify HDD, self-test normal.
Repair process:
Use the inner format function of PC3K to format once and doesn't find bad sectors, then use efficient source professional version to test and repair and no bad sector, but address of 1% to 10% sometimes fast sometimes slow. It is no problem when use THDD to test. I use efficient source common repair 99 times and advance some speed but unstable. I have 5 HDDs breakdown like that, so I read firmware from another HDD and then update again but still breakdown. After that I use LFORMAT to low level format, partition again, format, the speed of HDD is obvious advanced. The HDD is normal. I think there are some unstable magnetic media but it tested normal now.

WD AC33200 repair record
I have a HDD of WD AC33200, it had bad sectors before, after I use DLG repair it and I think it’s OK, but it can’t be identified after restart the computer. Circuit board is OK, I tried PC3K, It was OK after synthetic test and automatic reset of PC3K AT.

Repair WD 400EB HDD
Breakdown:
1. First cold boot, cmos can’t identified HDD, warm boot again can identified HDD. It could be identified WDC WD400EB but the capacity is only show 8.5 GB, and the number of sectors and heads is wrong.
2. The machine is double systems of winme and win2k. As for slave device: In winme, machine self-test as WD400EB 8.5G,S.M.A.R.T. None, when enter the system, you couldn’t see the slave device. In win2k, it is stop when machine self-test to energy star.
3. According to different options of DM universal version and WD DLT software to operation.
(1)ERROR/STATUS CODE:0132
(2)THERE WAS A DEVICE ERROR READING DRIVE2.ABSOLUTE SOCTER 0 COUNT 1.
(3)READING DRIVE 81 I/O TIMEOUT.

Repair: use IFORMAT to low level format, check whether it could low level format normally or not. If low level format normally, stop it after 1 minute and then use DM956 version to check out the maximum IBA address is complete or not. If still 8.4G, is it 8.4G originally? (some disk change small capacity). If not, use PC3K to try again.

Repair WD HDD
Breakdown: Electric motor is normal but finding abnormal sound and then disappears. In BIOS, it could be identified but can’t partition and format. Use MHDD to test, there are bad sectors at the beginning and the end (0.5%-10% 75%-95%).
Repair process:
If it has abnormal sound in the beginning, it may bad tracks, zero track breakdown, firstly use MHDD to open options we mentioned before, if couldn’t, repair bad tracks in the former firstly, and then the posteriori could change capacity. If use PC3K, you could use logical scan to repair, if couldn’t, you can low level format.

Repair WD HDD
Breakdown: At the beginning, a WD HDD tests many bad tracks, in the middle of efficiency source scan, it is forced to stop and can’t identify BOSS.
Repair process
Use PC3K to low level format and then use logical scan, cooperating with other software.

Repair WD 20G HDD
A WD 20G HDD which couldn’t format the partition. First make clear whether it has P list or G list bad tracks or not, and then select inner low level format. Continue trying until success, in which FW and disk surface test. After that it could use normally.
It doesn’t report error when enter WD EB module, pay attention to select enter all the time to enter into main menu. Because of the former WD HDD repair experience, it also clear lists and inner format. Then use DM partition normally. When test to install WIN98, it couldn’t continue when try to quick format to 45%. Use HDDR to scan ,it shows bad sectors, inner format again. (It has a strange phenomenon, I use inner format to scan the HDD for at least 5 to 6 times. I don’t know why it sometimes fast sometimes slow.) After that use HDDR to scan, it shows all bad disk. Make every possible effort. I may use clear disk FW information or clear FW and then use inner format, finally use HDDR scanning general. I could believe myself. After use FDISK partition and format, I didn’t find bad sectors and it was no problem after run system for several hours.
Summary:
If this kinds of HDD which needn’t data, please firstly clear P list and then inner format for several times. But it has better doesn’t report error. It could repair in this way when report error. If it still have bad sectors and couldn’t partition, you could clear disk FW information and clear FW and then inner format. Try several times until scan partition normally, maybe then there is a miracle.

Repair WD HDD can’t identified
Breakdown:
40GXJ HDD, when plug the power, it doesn’t plugged to HDD power plug, so it caused flint and smell the smell of burning, it couldn't identified HDD, after power on, it has no voice.
Repair process:
1. Driver chip may breakdown, test the ground resistance of 5V and 12V, generally normal to be around 600 at work.
2. Check whether there is burned out places between interface chip and IDE interface.

Repair WD HDD
Breakdown: WD 40EB could be identified but couldn’t operate, in the past, there were two WD 20G HDDs repaired by low level format program of PC3000 WD module. But this 40G WD HDD couldn’t low level format and report error.
Repair process:
Testing firmware structure by PC3000 to see whether error or not, if has, write again.
 

Repair WD HDD
Breakdown:
For the situation recognized WD 200EB as WD 205EB, after use PC3000 rewrite FW, interface information would be normally, 0EB could be recognized as WD 205EB.
Repair process:
Firstly enter corresponding module of WD, one of them is operate disk firmware area, enter it, select FW’s read/write option and then you could operate it successful. This disk is cause by FW breakdown, so write the good FW into it.
For the situation recognized WD200EB as WD205EB, you could use PC3000 to rewrite FW and then interface information is normal.

Repair WD 400BB-00DKA0 HDD
Breakdown:
WD 400BB-00DKA0 HDD couldn’t partition and high level format. Testing by MHDD, it is all green S, transfer to inner low level format of 3000, it’s OK and could partition and high level format, but it was slow and couldn’t use ASUS master board, it reports error. Use WD official software test and report 0159 error, you couldn’t enter testing interface.
Repair process:
After several days, I ghost all data from 400EB to 400BB-00DKA0, then use 400BB-00DKA0 start in一810 master board, but the board shows: BOOT DEVICE FAIL, it couldn’t start. Now use 98 boot HDD boot, partition delete after ghost WD 400BB-00DKA0 HDD, but it couldn’t continue in 2% when FDISK repartition. Quit and transfer MHDD again, you will find after the former cell, there are a lot of bad tracks. Quit MHDD, transfer to DM and zone clearing directly, about 1% and quit, use MHDD to test and it’s OK. It is no problem to partition or high level format by FDISK. Try to interface ASUS master board, no SMART error, after boot to DOS, use WD official software test, no error, pass through. Install the system, it is OK.

Repair WD HDD
Breakdown:
A WD 20G HDD, BIOS can identify model and capacity. ( is it no firmware breakdown?) Voice normal but couldn’t read and write and couldn’t low level format. Testing by special tools of factory couldn’t pass.( Diagnostic message is error 458:IDNF 10+ Identified Data Not Found. Ten or more instances of information on data positioning and location could not be found. Drive should be replaced.) It seems to belong to a common problem in WD EB series mild symptoms.
Repair process:
The tool is PC3K. The usage is the same as the former repair WD EB common failing but no electric plug because run the program has been very successful. Of course PC3K has been tried 2 to 3 version, at beginning it shows PROGRAM TOO BIG TO FIT IN MEMORY and system halted for several times, I don’t know whether it is the problem of DOS, finally I find the usable version and select the third option of menu, press enter for several times, it shows several menu have G list and P list,( I don’t understand other Russian) select one, HDD’s lamp is always light, it may lasting for 20 minutes, quit PC3K and run PQ directly.(not restart computer) It has been found HDD and could operation, part a partition and scan, no problem.
PS: Finally HDD’s cylinder decrease from 39102336 to 39102334, lost 2, it makes no difference.( I’m not clear whether it is zero track.)
The detail solution of WD EB、AB、BB、JB、AD HDD firmware repair
1. Firstly interface bad HDD with IDE2
2. Not jump to safe module, use beta version of efficiency source to repair twice, no matter success or not.
3. Use ERASE order of MHDD repair all disk twice.
4. Use efficiency source jump WD HDD into safe module and repair once.
5. Use the corresponding module of PC3000V12 to repair HDD
6. Use 1-2-1-2 way to recreate and recover sectors and reboot the computer
7. Check by MHDD to see whether it is normal or not.
8. If it is abnormal, enter the corresponding module of PC3000V12, inner format, choose the second option to repair once.
9. Use the last option called G list and P list to repair once, it is OK.
Follow the way above, you can repair A, S error code shown in MHDD.

Repair WD2000EB-00CSF0 record
