HTC -- Hitachi HDD Repair Guidance

1. Boot program
MRT is an outstanding data recovery tool, at present we publishes Hitachi repair module, it has a powerful function in Hitachi HDD repair.
It provides two models when boot Hitachi repair specialized module of MRT tools: “common model” and “safety model”. When boot in “common model”, program initializes parameter which HDD reads. When boot in “safety model”, program doesn’t read data of HDD disk anymore and ignore inner breakdown only to visit PCB board. When stops responding or issued percussion sounds because of HDD firmware data breakdown, you need to select “safe model”.

Follow is the detail introduction of “common model”.
Firstly read HDD ID information when problem boot:
The information such as HDD model which pick up from HDD ID will show in “HDD information” column which in the top of the window, the default display is: “model”, “serial number”, “firmware version”, “capacity”.
Then program will make necessary initialization according to HDD family and configured according to the following steps:

1). Load teach key, if it error, it will show follow information:
Load TeachKey…………………………………………Error(Load teach key error)”
2). Read NV-RAM to acquire some inner parameter, if error, it will show follow information:
Read NV-RAM…………………………………………Error(Read NV-RAM error)”。
3). Read module table (“ USAG ”), program will read Copy0 of USAG firstly.If it can’t, it will try to read Copy1. When there is any error, it will show follow information:
Read module table Error,Try to Copy1......(Read module table error, try Copy1)”。
If read Copy1 error, it will show follow information:
Read module table…………………………………………Error(Read module table error)”
4). Read “open modules table”, if it error, it will show follow information:
Read Open modules table…………………………………………Error(Read open modules table error)”。
5). Read ZONE, if it error, it will show follow information:
Read ZONE…………………………………………Error(Read ZONE module error)”
If this module read successful, please acquire HDD head number according to this module; or it will not show head number and initialized HDD head number as 0.

2. The use of program
2.1 NV-RAM
Firmware version (for example, A45A). The first two characters of firmware version should be same as the first two characters μ code of NV-RAM; if they are not same, HDD couldn’t use data initialization of NV-RAM and servo system couldn’t work normally. This firmware version code should be same as corresponding code of NV-RAM. If they are not same, HDD couldn’t data initialized by RAM and servo system couldn’t work normally.
 
2.2 HDD basic information
It shows follow information when you check out basic information:

-- u-Code The first four codes (ER4O) means HDD model (details on table 2 “Department code”).

The last four characters (A45A) indicate firmware version. It is connects with firmware version of RON: the first two characters (A4) must be same, the latter two characters could be different. Moreover, μ – code of NV-RAM should be the same as the μ – code of modules table (USAG). Or HDD will use data initialization of NV-RAM, servo system can boot but can’t read data of disk firmware area.
